Ordinations follow years of preparation – discerning the ministry God has called someone to, a rigorous interview process, and years of study and training – much of it in the parishes they will serve. Ian comes from a background in the motor trade and insurance, and has been a Christian since 2003. He is currently employed as a part-time Associate Minister in Dibden and Dibden Purlieu, where he will also serve his curacy. Ian and his wife Karen have two grown-up children, Dominic and Lydia. Ian says: “Honestly, this has been such an amazing journey already. My family, church colleagues, friends and fellow students have been wonderful in their support, encouragement and prayers. This is a great parish to work in, with so many fantastic people, and I’m looking forward to this next year in God’s service.” Ian was joined by his Incumbent, the Revd Peter Toller, as well as his family, fellow Associate Minister Serena Merritt, and other well-wishers and supporters. Among those attending was the Revd John Currin, Peter’s predecessor, celebrating the 30th anniversary of his own ordination on 2nd July 1993. e Rt Revd Debbie Sellin, Acting Bishop of OPEN DAY AT ST JOHN’S MARCHWOOD Winchester said: “Each year in our Diocese we see a fresh group of men and women of all ages and from different backgrounds responding to God’s call to become a priest or deacon in His church.
