Left to Right Trophy winners John Holland and Richard Gay Winter League Final CLASSIC CAR CLUB – ‘Enjoy Being Out and About’ The Southampton and New Forest Group of the Austin A30/A35 Owners’ Club members are continuing to enjoy the friendly, social atmosphere at their monthly meetings. Every meeting includes a ra e with many members leaving with a prize or two. e club holds many events throughout the year with speakers on various topics, picnics, quizzes, car meets, club drive days and an annual charity auction. So why not drop in for a taster visit, a tea or co ee and share any of your classic car experiences with members? You will receive a warm welcome. Club News On Saturday 17th June, the club had the opportunity to exhibit several members’ classic vehicles at Gang Warily, as part of the Armed Forces Day which included the Fawley Show. ere were many groups at the show exhibiting vehicles. Lorries were the largest of the vehicles and included some models from the vintage era. Music e club is always happy to welcome new members that are owners of any make of classic car, not forgetting those enthusiasts who appreciate them but don’t have one of their own, to come and meet the club members with a view to joining. Members have a range of classic vehicles such as Bedford, Ford, Land Rover, Mercedes, M.G., Morris, Riley, Saab, Triumph and Volkswagen enabling the club to expand the membership. The next meeting is on Thursday 10th August featuring 1960’s music giving members an opportunity to share their recollections. Meetings take place on the second Thursday of each month, starting at 7.30pm, at Netley Marsh Community Hall, Woodlands Road, SO40 7GH. Do go along and meet them. ‘LIFE’S TOO SHORT – PUT SOME MILES ON IT’ was provided, stalls were selling various items and there was the traditional attendance of the ice-cream van. Members enjoyed a picnic and looking around at the other exhibits. e arrival of the Spit re circling above the eld several times was a thrill for all visitors. Shown in the photo are two members’ vehicles. On the le hand side is a 1971 Morris Minor Commercial next to it is a 1953 Riley R.M.E. Saloon. e Morris is a mass production model but the Riley has a metal chassis, ash frame and coach built body panels which cannot be mass produced. On ursday 29th June, club members met in the top car park of Lepe Country Park for a picnic meet. It was an ideal location and vantage point to enjoy the view and watch the passing boats. On ursday 13th July, members enjoyed their club night BBQ. Members cars on display at Fawley Show
