Over the previous 10 weeks, New Forest Golf Club’s Seniors had played 11 friendly matches away against other clubs and lost every single one of them! is is not too surprising as home advantage o en kicks in particularly around the greens. But as the saying goes, winning is not everything, it’s the taking part that matters and meeting up and renewing old friendships is such a very important part of these matches. Having said that, the opportunity to play host is also enjoyable, particularly as home advantage is now on your side. So it was on Tuesday 27th June against Paultons Seniors. New Forest Seniors Vice Captain Harry Maitland presided as New Forest won 5-1, Harry and his partner Steve Waterman winning their particular match 8 and 7.  en that same week on Friday 30th June New Forest Seniors Captain Hugh Marchant welcomed Wellow Golf Club Seniors in much cooler and o en quite damp weather. is time New Forest emerged winners 6-0. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable and successful week’s work!
