The next Herald is out on 30th May Emergency First Aid at Hythe Library A free Emergency First Aid course is taking place at Hythe Library on Tuesday 23rd July, 9.30am to 4.30pm. e course will equip you with skills to be able to confidently undertake emergency first aid if someone becomes ill or injured at home/ community setting. e course consists of 8 hours of instructor led tuition with the emphasis on practical application of rst aid skills. is is a practical course which is interactive and fun. Every week-day League of Friends volunteers arrive at Hythe Hospital and open the tea bar to serve refreshments to waiting patients and sta . Any pro ts made are then ploughed back into the hospital by way of providing equipment for clinics and the running costs of equipment for patient use such as the hire and servicing of the cold-water machines in the waiting rooms. Since the hospital opened on the 23nd November 2023 the League of Friends have donated over £8,000 to the hospital. Assorted items of equipment have been purchased as a result. e departments and clinics that have bene tted as a result are: • e Special Dental Service • X -Ray and Ultrasound • Urgent Care Centre • Physiotherapy • General items for sta use ere is also a second-hand book shelf and over the last 6 months £98 has been received through the sale of these books, all of which is donated back into the hospital. e League of Friends work closely with the Trusts running the clinics and are keen to support new initiatives. ey actively seek the possibility of additional services and the development of existing ones. It is hoped that in the near future the ENT and Lung Function clinics will return to the hospital. e Trustees have set aside £48,000 for these future developments. ere are vacancies for volunteers to help with the Refreshment Bar.
