However, a Bramshott Hill Seniors team travelled to Portsmouth Golf Club on ursday 4th April for an interclub match. Unfortunately, due to the continued poor weather, Portsmouth only had fourteen holes playable. is did not detract from the enthusiasm for the match and six teams set out to play the available holes. e weather on this occasion was fair with only some showers to dampen the spirits. e Portsmouth course has some amazing views over the harbour, out to sea and the Spinnaker Tower and this was appreciated by all. Following the match a meal was served in the club house with a welcome speech from the Portsmouth captain and a reply from Mike Wells (the Bramshott Hill stand in captain for the day as Dave Wilson was not available for this match). Finally, the scores were announced and sadly Bramshott lost by ve games to one. ey intend to square the score or better it on the return match in June at Dibden Golf Course. Monday 8th April: e weather was once again being kind, still only nine holes open but trolleys were allowed which probably accounted for the increase in player numbers to thirtynine. Some excellent scores were returned and the results were as follows: Division 1: 1st Peter Gates 19 points, 2nd Brian Lewis 18 points, 3rd Steve Lawson 18 points; Division 2: 1st Dave Wilson 20 points, 2nd Philip Lebrun 20 points, 3rd Mike Newland 19 points; Division 3: 1st Eddie Ford 21 points, 2nd David Wyatt 20 points, 3rd Mike Webb 19 points. ursday 12th April: Bramshott Seniors team attended Paulton’s golf club for an interclub match. e Paulton’s sta managed to get all eighteen holes open for the game which was much appreciated. e day started in style with Bacon rolls and Co ee on arrival, again many thanks to the Paulton’s team. e game was played in a friendly but competitive manner and the results re ected this with each team winning three games each. ere followed a very pleasant and enjoyable meal before both teams made their way home. Monday 15th April: 32 Bramshott Seniors set out to play a Stableford game at Dibden Golf course. Nine holes were open and trolleys were allowed. e weather over the weekend had been dry and warm, and thirty-two players set out to play. However, the weather gremlins were at work and soon a er the start an extremely heavy downpour sent some of the players heading back to the clubhouse. Some of the hardier players completed the course and presented some very creditable scores which were as follows: Division 1: 1st Gerry Murphy 20pts, 2nd Dave Wilson 18pts, 3rd Barry Walker 16pts; Division 2: 1st Ron Gooding 18pts, 2nd Ron Smith 17pts, 3rd John Bailey 16pts. Well done to all who completed the game. Bramshott Hill Seniors team at Portsmouth Bramshott Hill Seniors team v Paultons National Motor Museum Awarded a Heritage Fund Grant for Museum Transformation Benedick Swann, the National Motor Museum’s Head of Learning says, “The story of motoring touches all areas of society. This exciting project aims to broaden the appeal of our collections and add new voices to the interpretation through long term outreach and community partnership work.” News of the National Lottery Heritage Fund grant comes as work is coming to an end on refurbishing the outside entrance of the Museum in readiness for the 2024 season – new glass has been installed and the iron framework has been painted in its original orange colour scheme. e National Motor Museum at Beaulieu is celebrating a er receiving a £226,000 grant from e National Lottery Heritage Fund for an exciting new project. e project will see the Museum building refurbished, transforming the entrance and welcome area, and helping to develop a new Ages of Motoring gallery. e Heritage Fund grant will also support the Museum’s Learning team to deliver an ambitious outreach programme broadening the appeal of the new permanent gallery. e two-year project will see the Museum collaborate with local community groups and will explore motoring themes relevant to contemporary audiences and address gaps in representation within the collections. Jon Murden, Chief Executive of the National Motor Museum says, “We are delighted that the Museum will receive this support thanks to money raised by National Lottery players. The funding will enable the Museum to develop new and imaginative ways of sharing the story of motoring through our Collections, demonstrating the way motoring affects the lives of almost everybody and shapes society, showcasing the past, present and future of motoring. The Heritage Fund support allows us to take the vital first steps in our masterplan to reimagine the Museum and its Collections Centre.” Ambitious Development Plans As a rst step, the National Motor Museum’s initial project will redevelop, reinterpret, and redisplay the Museum’s entrance galleries, transforming the welcome, orientation and engagement The National Motor Museum’s Chief Executive Jon Murden celebrate the Heritage Fund grant with Museum team members experience. Displays will explain the origins of the Museum, its direct connections to the pioneers of motoring, and create a greater sense of place - explaining why the world’s rst national motor museum is at Beaulieu. e main gallery space will showcase a new permanent exhibition ‘ e Ages of Motoring’ showcasing the development and social history of cars and motorcycles from the 19th century, through 20th century and beyond. Jon continues, “The project will breathe new life into our vehicle displays and our interpretation of motoring heritage, presenting it in a fresh and exciting way. The entrance will be transformed, creating a more welcoming and accessible experience for visitors of all abilities.” New and Diverse Audiences e Museum aims to reach a far broader audience and local communities through new outreach initiatives. With activities and educational programs the goal is to encourage people to explore motoring heritage in new ways and contribute to the ongoing dialogue, making it a shared story.
