Amp eld golf club is unusual as it is an eighteen-hole par three course. ere can’t be many courses of this type in the country. Amp eld is a lovely course but the golf is di erent to most courses as players rely totally on their short game making it a very di erent competition. Bramshott have very rarely triumphed here and they were not expecting to this time. However, on this occasion the Bramshott team pulled out all the stops and won the match by four games to two. ey look forward to the Amp eld team visiting them later in the year where they will see how their long game fares. A very good meal followed the game Both teams enjoying the after-match meal and presentations were made for nearest the pin etc. As with all the matches they play, once the game is over a good friendly atmosphere prevails in the club house and the day is enjoyed by all. Monday 29th April all holes were open and trolleys allowed, so 34 Bramshott Senior members set out for a stableford competition. e weather was looking good and everyone was in high spirits. Despite recent rain the MyTime ground sta had done a brilliant job to ensure the course was playable but in some places the ground was still heavy. e scores were a bit lower than normal re ecting the di culty of playing. However the ‘Seniors’ were not to be defeated and the scores were as follows: Division 1: 1st Kevin Boot 33pts, 2nd Paul Wastell 32pts, 3rd Stuart Bulbrooke 30pts. Division 2: 1st George Carroll 35pts, 2nd Paul Collins 28pts, 3rd Keith Cartwright 28pts. It gives them great pleasure to mention that one of their players scored a ‘Hole in One’ on the second hole. On Tuesday 30th April, 51 New Forest Golf Club Seniors competed in a roll-up stableford competition using the yellow tees for the rst time this year. Seniors Captain Ken Scott clearly found the conditions to his liking as he not only nished ahead of the eld at the top of Division 1, but also claimed the nearest the pin prize on the 16th when, using his 3 wood o the tee, he sent his ball soaring through the air, over the bunker in front of the green to end up nestling against the ag in the hole! is is Ken’s second hole-in-one of his gol ng career, the previous one having been some 19 years ago. Hopefully he won’t have to wait so long before the next one! Division 1: 1st Ken Scott – 36 pts, 2nd Mike Ahearn – 35 pts, 3rd Steve Lupton – 31 pts. Division 2: 1st Trevor Davies – 33 pts, 2nd Steve Waterman – 32 pts (back 9=20), 3rd Alan Clark – 32 pts (back 9=17). Ken Scott with his hole-inone ball – both smiling!
