Held at the prestigious Remedy Oak Golf Club, sponsors Peter Remedy Oak Golf Day “Special thanks go to all our teams and the great Remedy team who always put on a fantastic day for us at this prestigious course. Thank you to everyone who supported us today.” As part of one of the charity’s projects, Heartbeat is fundraising to be able to purchase new carpets for the bedrooms of Rotary Heartbeat House. e charity’s home away from home is where families who have patients undergoing treatment at the University Hospital Southampton can stay in the 24-bedroom house. On the day golfers were asked to pledge money to sponsor a bedroom. In recognition, and as a thank you, Heartbeat would then ensure the company’s name and logo would be placed on a special plaque on the outside of the room. All funds raised will go to Southampton based Heartbeat, a wellestablished charity that helps newborns, children and adults diagnosed with congenital and cardiovascular diseases through supporting the work of the Wessex Cardiac Unit based at University Hospital Southampton. Heartbeat fundraise to provide specialised equipment, services and facilities to help patients and their relatives through their cardiac journey. 1st Prize winners Cooper Motor Group (PCMG) o ered the chance for the budding golfers to win a BMW Mini with a “Hole in one” on the 9th. Lee Peck Media kindly sponsored the golf balls and Silcom Ltd were the sponsors of the nearest to the pin competition, with Barratt Homes sponsoring “Beat the Pro”. e annual fundraising event saw 22 teams of four compete for the Jim Monro Memorial Trophy against the stunning backdrop of the club’s grounds in Verwood. Remedy Oak Golf Course is set in 256 acres of ancient Dorset woodland, providing an 18-hole, par 72 course that is ranked as the third best golf course in the South of England. e trophy was won by Ross Holiday, in second place were the team from Lee Peck Media and third price went to Hi-Acre Construction. Supporting the charity golf day were ‘Ti ’ Needell, a former British racing driver and television presenter, as well as ex-Saints player, James Beattie, who is also a patron of Heartbeat. e day started with bacon rolls and co ee, with refreshments later at the famous ‘Heartbeat half-way house gin bar’ and was rounded o with a delicious three-course dinner, prize-giving, charity ra e and auction. Auction prizes included the chance for a team of 4 to play Remedy Oak again or a chance to play Boundary Lakes with a meal for 4 and then in the evening enjoy a midweek T20 match at the Utilita Bowl.
