Mrs Rayner was so passionate about the care her residents received that she made provision for the ongoing care by handing the reins to her daughter Gina Rayner. Gina has worked in the social care sector for over 35 years working alongside her mum to learn what outstanding care looks like. Diane Younger (Registered Manager) has been with the family for 28 years and has received two outstanding ratings from the Care Quality Commission. Over the past 3 and half years Badgers Holt has been completely re-furbished, whilst retaining its homely feel. The renovations have included creating a coffee shop within the new garden which has been landscaped with beautiful owers, a fountain and large garden stag ornaments. The co ee shop has a fridge with refreshments and comfortable seating for the residents to enjoy. To keep everyone feeling and looking their best, a new hair salon has been created within Badgers Holt to ensure that the residents that are unable to visit a salon outside the Home can enjoy the same experience. Family Run Care Home Completes Refurbishment and Introduces New Day and Respite Care Services e residents quality of life is a huge focus for Badgers Holt, they have also recently purchased a new minibus which takes residents for trips out to Lepe beach for an ice cream, the New Forest to see the wildlife and occasionally over to Southampton to see the Cruise Ships. Residents can also enjoy a trip to the local pub for a social drink or a game of pool and can go out for a walk or a visit to the local village. Badgers Holt has also increased it sta numbers to ensure that all the residents get quality care and time, including their new full-time activity co-ordinator, who provides activities 5 days a week and a wellbeing carer who spends time with individual residents. The well-being carer in addition takes daily walks with residents (weather permitting). Mrs Rayner always believed that “Our residents do not live in our workplace, we work in their home” and that ethos continues with the sta today, many have been at Badgers Holt for many years and really know their residents and consider the home a family home for all. As well as residential care, Badgers Holt now o er day care services to support local families that may have a loved one who are not ready for full time care. (First day is FREE). They can also offer respite care for people over 65 years who have le hospital and may need a transition period before going home. Respite care can also be used as an introduction to people who may need care in the future (subject to availability) or as a temporary arrangement to assist family carers.
