Michael Ockwell, Chief Executive and Creative Director and Patrick O’Sullivan, Head of Participation delivered keynotes providing insight into May ower’s charitable objectives and pro t for purpose philosophy with the aim to inspire the delegates. Michael Ockwell said: “It was great to host Aster Group for their away day. It was a privilege to act as a keynote speaker, discussing the Mayflower’s charitable objectives and social mission outlining how our community programmes are wholly funded through income generated from ticket sales and venue hire. It was really positive to see similarities between our company and Aster Group, we look forward to welcoming them back in the future.” e away day also included a backstage tour, putting the theatre’s historical venue centre stage. e Group was treated to insight on how the eatre stages touring productions and an exclusive look at some of the behind the scenes. e away day then cumulated with Aster watching a matinee performance of The Wizard of Oz. Jordan Lister, Director of Growth and Strategic Information at Aster Group said: “It was amazing to attend Mayflower Theatre for our away day earlier in the year. The venue is absolutely beautiful, and it was fascinating to learn exactly what goes into the running of the theatre and to see both behind the scenes and then a show on the stage. We received keynote speeches from both Michael Ockwell and Patrick O’Sullivan who provided us with useful insight into the workings of the charity and how it functions to serve the venue and the community. I wouldn’t hesitate to return to Mayflower Theatre for another away day in the future.” Mayflower venues offer flexible meetings, conferencing and events space from a small meeting to 449 delegates in a purpose built studio with AV and support ensuring there is something that suits all types of businesses.
