Unfortunately, only 17 holes were playable as hole 3 was closed due to damage by hoof marks caused by the cows on and around the green (a problem at times with forest courses). ey gathered in the club-house at 11am for co ee and then made their way to the forest course. e course was challenging for all as it has su ered due to the weather during the winter, with the added issue of a large amount of cattle and horses on the course. e game was played in a great atmosphere with the normal banter and laughs. It was a close run game but Bramshott came out losing 3.5 to 2.5. Monday 14th May saw the Bramshott Seniors gather for a Stableford Quali er, all eighteen holes were open with trolleys allowed. e day was ne and warm with rain forecast for later, happily the rain didn’t arrive until the game was over. irty-eight players took on the challenge and although the course was still not in pristine condition due to the extremely wet winter the “MyTime” sta have done some sterling work to bring the course to a very playable condition. Good results were returned with the following winners: Division 1: 1st Stuart Bulbrooke 33 points, 2nd Paul Wastell 33 points, 3rd Kevin Boot 31 points; Division 2: 1st Phil Lebrun 31 points, 2nd Adie Mitchell 31 points, 3rd Gerard Murphy 30 points; Division 3: 1st Ron Gooding 34 points, 2nd Mike Webb 31 points, 3rd Terry Wiseman 29 points. is game was also for the George Reay trophy which was won by Ron Gooding. On Wednesday 16th May Bramshott Seniors and Bramshott Ladies held a mixed Scramble to celebrate the ieth anniversary of the formation of Bramshott Hill Golf Club at Dibden Golf Centre. irty-two players took part with eight teams of four, two Ladies and two Seniors in each team. A “Scramble” is a fun team game but taken seriously on the day. A great day was enjoyed by all and the weather gremlins smiled favourably on them with ne warm weather. On completion, a drink at the bar and a meal in the clubhouse followed, when winners were announced and prizes given, this ended the days enjoyment. Bramshott team v Bramshaw Paul wanted a vegetarian meal!! The mixed Scramble Ladies and Senior players The winning team Dibden Open Golf Society (DOGS) Results 14th May the DOGS played a 3 Ball Yellow Peril team competition, the one they all look forward to playing, plus those other add on competitions. Winning Team: M Wells, R James & R Short (55) 2nd: C Peall, D Thorpe & A Turnpenny (50) 3rd: R Hallett, D McManus & R Gooding (49). Nearest the pin winners: R Short (4th) and A Rogers (11th). Pro’s Approach: D Sly (7th) and 2’s lone winner: L Cohen. 21st May the DOGS played a 3 ball 18 hole Stableford Waltz competition and again with all those other wonderful competitions they all enjoy. Pro’s approach (15th) and solo 2’s winner: T Oliver. 28th May was the annual John Cross Memorial Trophy, an 18 hole Stableford competition with a much depleted turnout, weather dictating again. 14th May winners: R James, A Turnpenny, C Peall and R Hallett 21st May winners D Wilson, Sue Hallett and P Barnett Winner of the annual John Cross Memorial Trophy 2024 was Dennis Thorpe with 40 Points. HARRY YOUNG CUP Instead of the forecast dry weather, quite steady rain fell during much of this competition and a much reduced eld of only 27 New Forest Golf Club Seniors completed the course on ursday 16th May. is stroke play competition o the white tees with the cup going to the player with the best gross score. Mike Ahearn got quite close with gross 81, but somewhat predictably Steve Duckett as lowest handicap player on the day came in with the winning score of gross 79. As well as the cup, prizes were also given for best nett scores. In Division 1, Mike Ahearn was again beaten into 2nd place by Terry Gordon who came in with a very creditable nett 67. Wayne Niles won Division 2 eight strokes ahead of his nearest rival. Nearest the pin on 11 was won by Phil Walker. Harry Young Cup: 1st Steve Duckett 79 gross, 2nd Mike Ahearn 81 gross. Division 1: 1st Terry Gordon 67 nett, 2nd Mike Ahearn 70 nett, 3rd Roy Nelson 71 nett. Division 2: 1st Wayne Niles 66 nett, 2nd Charlie Hughes 74 nett and 3rd Ian Johnston 75 nett. Millennium Shield On Tuesday 14th May the previous night’s rain made ground conditions a bit challenging at times and with the sun unable to decide whether it should appear or not, the temperature seesawed between quite warm and rather chilly. All this did nothing to deter the 36 New Forest Golf Club Seniors and especially their Captain Ken Scott who, with 4 pars and 2 birdies on his card, nished on 37 points, 1 ahead of Dave Jones, to lead Division 1 and win the Millennium Shield for the second time. Robin Swanston headed Division 2 with 36 points. Division 1: 1st Ken Scott – 37 pts, 2nd Dave Jones – 36 pts, 3rd Chris Webb – 33 pts. Division Ken Scott with the Millennium Shield 2: 1st Robin Swanston – 36 pts, 2nd Mik Jarmolowicz – 35 pts and 3rd Ted Groves - 34 pts. Tommy Trotter Trophy 41 New Forest Golf Club Seniors turned up for the Tommy Trotter Trophy, a stableford competition o the white tees. Competition for the top 3 spots in Division 1 was intense with Mike Broom emerging just 1 point ahead of Dave Jones and Chris Bennett, however Division 2’s Mike Wharton nished well ahead of the eld to win the Tommy Trotter Trophy with 38 points. Nearest the pin on 11 was won by Pete Ayers. Division 1: 1st Mike Broom 36pts, 2nd Dave Jones 35pts (back 9=18, back 6=14), 3rd Chris Bennett 35pts (back 9=18, back 6=13).
