With 300 venues open this year the county is packed with options to visit! In the ten days leading up to bank holiday Monday 26th August, visitors can get the opportunity to meet the makers direct and learn more about their work. e colour catalogue is out now or you can view all the listings online and download the Hampshire Open Studios app available from the Google Play Store and Apple Store onto your smart phone. You can search by media, date, place, navigate via maps and save all your favourite venues. Visitors can also enter a prize draw to win £100 towards artwork from your favourite Hampshire Open Studios artist. Some local highlights in Hythe include Debra Campbell & Jill Gower showing paintings on the pier, Waterside Art Group are exhibiting in the Hythe & Dibden Community Centre also Mary and Peter York are displaying mainly watercolour paintings from their home venue. New for 2024, is Sharon Ridding with a show of contemporary paintings and in the Gang Warily Rugby Club, Fawley you can see work by four artists who make their art from wood, ceramics, resin and photography. Mary has continued to use watercolour for a variety of subjects in her, by now, well-established “loose” and “wet into wet” approach. Peter is increasingly making use of pen in combination with watercolour. ey are both sure that visitors will nd paintings to interest them. Previous openings have been well patronised by visitors from near and far. Open days will be from Thursday 22nd August until Bank Holiday Monday 26th August from 11am until 5pm. As well as original framed and unframed paintings Mary and Peter York - Venue 83 We are delighted to exhibit again, our fourth year on the Pier! Come and take a stroll down our historic, Victorian Pier. Our exhibition is held in the quaint Pier Waiting room at the seaward end. Visitors can either take a stroll down the Victorian pier or take a ride on its unique railway to the Waiting Room to enjoy a truly unique and varied art display. We are inspired by our local scenery thus creating coastal and forest scenes. You will see a variety of art mediums such as acrylic, watercolour and pastel pieces. Other subjects include animals and ower paintings. ese are given a semi abstract twist or “artistic license” as we dabble with di erent colour combinations. We look forward to hearing your feedback regarding our new pieces. Cards and prints also available. We’re both dedicated members of the Hythe Pier Heritage Association (HPHA). Jill serves as a Board member. Debbie is an active volunteer and is currently Lady Captain at Bramshott Hill Golf Club at Dibden Golf Centre. HPHA is her chosen charity this year. A percentage of all our sales will be donated to HPHA. Art on the Pier will be open on: Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th August, 10am–4pm, Tuesday 20th & Wednesday 21st August, 10am-4pm and Saturday 24th, Sunday 25th & Monday 26th August, 10am–4pm.
