Both artists are inspired by nature, landscape, changing seasons and architecture. Mandy is well known for her original Southampton heritage linocuts. Aylsa is a biologist turned painter and printmaker, her love of nature inspires artworks in both acrylic paintings and Mandy Smith and Aylsa Williams – Venue 84 original linocuts. A range of original linocuts, card cuts, monotypes and acrylic paintings, as well as cards, postcards, artist books and gi ware will be available. e Studio will be open 11am–6pm on 17th-19th August and 23rd–26th August. Art by Mandy Smith and Aylsa Williams is is Matt’s second year exhibiting as part of Hampshire Open Studios. Matt takes his inspiration from the in nite variety of the natural world including wildlife, geology, and the cosmos. And from the beautiful surroundings of the New Forest where he lives. Working in both 3D sculpture and more traditional wall hung art, Matt is turning his front room into a mini-gallery. His varied style is a colourful re-imagining of nature and natural phenomenon, and he has lots of bright artworks for sale to suit a range of budgets. Go along and take a look for yourself, Matt is always happy to talk about his process and materials he uses. As in recent years, their exhibition has been organised as part of the county-wide Hampshire Open Studios involving hundreds of venues. Make sure that you pick up one of their brochures from a variety of outlets in Hythe and elsewhere as a guide to visiting a wide variety of art and cra artists and makers. Taking inspiration from nature and the New Forest they are showing a variety of paintings, cra , stained glass, prints and cards. Open from Midday to 4pm Wednesday 21st to Monday 26th August. Car parking available with a gravel surface. Also exhibiting work with New Forest Artists in the Chapel Stores East Boldre from Saturday 17th August to 26th August, 8am to 5.30pm daily (Sundays & Bank Holiday Monday 9am to 12noon). as prints and cards will be on display, the majority available for sale. Payment by card will be available. Works will be in a variety of media including oils, acrylics, watercolours, pencil, pastel and others. e range of subjects will be equally diverse and will include landscapes, still life, abstract, oral and animal portraits. ere will be a ra e for a variety of art-based prizes. For those visitors who are restricted to viewing at weekends, the Exhibition will be open on the rst Saturday of the Open Studios event as well as the complete following week. e Exhibition will be open on Saturday 17th August and then on Monday 19th August through to Saturday 24th August from 10am to 4pm each day. Refreshments will be available in the Centre Cafe throughout the exhibition. Entry is free.
