Playing nightly from 3rd–26th August this sparkling classic will be presented open air in the enchanting surroundings of Furzey Gardens in Minstead. Hay Fever is one of the most famous plays in the English language packed with unforgettable characters and dripping with wit. e beauty of the gardens promises to chime with the elegance of Cowards’s world in this dynamic production, suitable for the whole family. Expect comedy, magic and live music. e action is punctuated by Noel Coward’s beloved and famous songs such as ‘Don’t put your daughter on the stage’ and ‘Mad dogs and Englishmen’. Director Abbey Wright said: “‘Hay Fever’ is one of the funniest plays ever written. It flies along at a great pace and is a joyful and mischievous celebration of eccentricity, family and love. The Furzey gardens setting is incredibly pretty and magical as the night falls. Shieldhall’s second music cruise of the month takes place on Friday 16th August between 6.30pm - 9.30pm, when the excellent Shamrock Keys will be playing songs from e Dubliners and e Pogues and other Irish bands. On Saturday 17th August Shieldhall stages its ever popular ‘Cruise to the Needles’ (10.30am - 6pm) and on Sunday 18th August will head into Portsmouth Harbour for up close views of the Spinnaker Tower from the water and the Naval Basin. is cruise is staged between 10.30am - 5pm. Shieldhall departs for her summer holidays to Poole with a one-way trip on Monday 26th August, 10am-4pm, and will then remain in Poole until the following Monday, staging cruises to the Bournemouth Air Festival and Jurassic Coast during her stay. On all trips, it is access all areas of Shieldhall, including the Engine and Boiler Rooms and Bridge. Food and drink is available on board, as is free parking at Shieldhall’s 110 Berth.
