The next Herald is out on 22nd August Celebrating 150th Anniversary of St John’s Church from The Parish of Hythe On Sunday 23rd June we had a fantastic day of celebrations to mark the 150th anniversary of St John’s Church. During Bubble Church at 9.30am we learnt about the story of Jesus calming the storm. is involved LOTS of paper sh as well as some fun parachute games. Following this, our two congregations came together for a combined morning service. As part of the service, a number of groups linked with the church brought in items representing the activities they are involved in. We had everything from paint to co ee, pool cues to dinner plates. It was truly wonderful to re ect on the many di erent activities we have going on within our parish. In the a ernoon, we had a tea party followed by a special celebration service where we were joined by not just one but two bishops – Bishop Philip, the new Bishop of Winchester, and Bishop David, a former vicar of this parish who later went on to become Bishop of Warrington. Having been welcomed by the Bubble Church puppets, Bishop Philip told us all about his favourite biscuits, and about his little dog, Noggin. He then went on to encourage us that Jesus cares about us, cares about the community we live in, and promises to be with us in the midst of whatever storms we might be facing. Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated with us on 23rd June. It really was a great occasion! We still have some of our limited edition anniversary tea towels available for sale at £7 each. Pop into the Parish O ce in St John’s Hall if you would like to purchase one.
