Kimbridge Barn, which held the title of “Best Wedding Venue in Hampshire & the Isle of Wight” for two consecutive years in 2022 and 2023, has concluded its sixth summer of unique events. Kris Anderson has been General Manager since the venue’s opening in 2018 and has overseen the growth of the venue which is known for its rustic feel, stunning surroundings, and quality locally-sourced food. “It’s been amazing to see how far we’ve come in six years, especially considering the challenges we faced during the COVID lockdowns. Navigating through those difficult times wasn’t easy, but it pushed us to be more creative and resilient. Now, we’re the only venue in the region offering such a unique blend of events. Since 2018 we have hosted more than 250 weddings and served more than 10,000 luxury afternoon teas. Our average annual footfall in our first year was approximately 30,000, compared to this year’s estimated annual footfall of 75,000.” Summer 2024 at Kimbridge Barn was packed with unique events, such as Ibiza themed ‘Summer Sundowner’ party night - which saw the barn transformed into a dance oor with live music from DJs and musicians. Every Friday throughout summer, the venue also held a wood- re pizza evening in its cafe courtyard with live performances from local musicians. e season came to a close with the ‘Feast Over Fire’ - an outdoor evening of delicious seafood grilled right in front of your eyes by the team of talented chefs. Kris continued: “Planning and hosting events at Kimbridge is always incredibly fun and rewarding. The team takes huge joy in tailoring everything to perfection, especially when it comes to hosting weddings. Keep your eyes peeled for some exciting events coming, particularly as we enter the festive period!” Kimbridge Barn in Romsey has marked its sixth full year in business with record breaking figures Original Pier Pillar Gets a Make-over e small pillar that has been standing at the entrance to Hythe Pier since its construction has received a ‘makeover’. Erected in 1880 it had been showing its age. Early photographs clearly confirm its presence, before a lamppost was added when electric lighting was introduced during the early 1920’s. The re-rendering and repainting of the pillar is one of a number of small tasks being undertaken by the Hythe Pier Heritage Association assisted by volunteers from the Shed (at the Pier) to improve the Hythe Pier entrance. e dilapidated century old-lamppost has been removed from the pillar; a modern ‘period’ replacement is being sought. New fencing to match the new platform handrails will be installed, allowing the removal of the temporary safety fencing that has been in place during the construction of the new shore end station platform. At the seaward end of the pier, the perspex panels over the station are being replaced, ensuring that it is drier at the platform.
