A er all, no-one’s going to see them, right? Well, out of sight should not mean out of mind when it comes to looking a er your feet. Some people nd that winter shoes are less kind to the feet than sandals. ey are less roomy, of course, and you may have forgotten that they rub a bit which can cause hard skin and corns. Winter is also a peak time for developing athlete’s foot as your feet are more enclosed and don’t ‘breathe’, especially if you’re wearing wellies. Painful corns can also make it painful to walk, thus reducing your quality of life. Regular chiropody/podiatry appointments can help manage these simple but painful conditions and, with advice, can help prevent their return. Fiona Cann has over 15 years’ experience as a podiatrist and has recently completed a 2 year MSc in diabetes care with a special interest in patient education. She is passionate about helping people avoid the complications of diabetes and would be delighted to work with you in order to help you keep your feet in tip top condition. Diabetic foot checks are available along with footwear and foot care advice to help prevent diabetes-related foot complications. Whether or not you are living with diabetes, why not treat your feet to regular foot care and help keep yourself active and mobile.
