Don’t Know What to Do with All Those Falls, but Hate Waste? Transition Town Romsey invites you to take your spare apples and/or pears to their annual apple-pressing weekend at 3 Station Road, Romsey, SO51 8DP (next to the dentist) on Saturday 5th October and Sunday 6th October. An apple press will be available for use from 10am – 4pm each day, to turn your apples into juice for free. Everyone is welcome to take their surplus fruit. Any type of apple is suitable (including cookers and falls), so just take them along. e resulting juice will keep for 3 days in the fridge; can be frozen; made into jelly; or for the more adventurous, it can be made into cider. Please remember to take containers, such as plastic drinks/milk bottles (2 litre is easiest), to take the juice home in. ere will also be sacks of the crushed apple pulp available to anyone who wants some for their composter, or as animal feed. If you haven’t got any fruit, go along anyway, as there will be plenty to see and do. You can have a go at juicing; taste the resulting product; nd out about Romsey’s Community Orchard; or enjoy the ‘Apple Café’ - with tea/co ee and applebased cakes/treats available to try for a donation. is year there will also be Children’s Recycled Cra -making from 11am – 12noon each day. Hythe 2000 Christmas Tree Festival from Hythe 2000 Hythe will be ablaze with twinkling lights, when a host of beautifully decorated and illuminated Christmas trees ll St John’s Church for the annual Christmas Tree Festival. is fundraising event is organised by Hythe 2000, which supports the Smarties Parent and Toddler Group, Gateway IT For All and local primary schools– plus the Church itself. e concept is simple: local groups, businesses, societies, families, friends and individuals are invited to take an arti cial Christmas tree to the church before the festival and decorate it to a theme of their own choice. Trees can be themed to promote a particular cause, humorous, thought provoking, or just simply artistic. During the Festival visitors have the opportunity to bid for a tree using the silent auction form, at the end of the festival the winning bid will be noti ed, and they can collect their tree. We look forward to welcoming all of our di erent local groups as they display their trees for the enjoyment of our community at our annual Christmas Tree Festival. e trees, supplied, decorated and donated by your group will be available for viewing at St. John’s Church, Hythe from Saturday 30th November - Tuesday 10th December.
