Among the highlights were six world-renowned cartoonists, including Rich Skipworth, who led an engaging iPad cartooning workshop, and Clive Goddard, who shared fascinating insights on creating cartoons for Private Eye. Joli Vyann delivered an electrifying performance despite the rain, and local comedian Jon Matthews had everyone laughing with his latest show, ‘Talk Nerdy to Me’. roughout the week, festival-goers enjoyed 17 di erent art workshops, ranging from lino printing and macrame to ceramic poppies and acrylic painting. ere was something for everyone, including making tote bags and volunteers made this week of creativity on the Waterside possible. Particular thanks also goes out to the festival’s key sponsors: Culture in Common, Straight Talk Financial Planning and Waterside Community Fund. Looking ahead, the committee is already planning next year’s festival, but we need more volunteers! Sarah Marsden’s history walks were both fascinating and popular, while Dan Cooper’s return with the Big Sing was a crowd favourite. e Great Egg Race was a fun family event that will be back next year, and Waterside Arts’ Chairperson Charlotte’s Quiz provided an evening of knowledge and hilarity. In total, the festival featured 19 venues, 2 talks, 17 di erent workshops over 20 sessions, 4 live music events, plus performances, comedy, cinema, quiz, and community events. e support of our amazing more spectacular! On Saturday 16th November Waterside Arts are hosting a Ceilidh at Marchwood Village Hall - get your dancing shoes on or just enjoy the great folk music; and on Sunday 17th November there will be a Christmas Arts and Cra Fair at Gang Warily. Tickets and details of these and other forthcoming events including e Enchanted Cinema – e Snowman, A Christmas Carol, Elvis in Blue Hawaii and Touki performing their latest album are available on the website. Please email thewatersidefestival@gmail.com if you’d like a stall at the Arts and Cra fair. www. watersidearts.org.uk Hythe Indoor Market As well as the very popular Hythe Market held on the High Street, you will also nd an Indoor Market every Tuesday in St John’s Church Hall from 9am to 2pm. e indoor market has been running for over 30 years, o ering a wide variety of stalls from local cra ers and sellers. e regular stalls include handmade gi s for babies and children, jewellery, homemade cakes, preserves and jams, greetings cards, wooden fairy doors and trinket boxes, wind chimes and more! You can also take a break from the shopping whilst you are there and enjoy a hot drink and a bacon bap or slice of cake from the café run by volunteers from St John’s Church.
