George and Hazel spent many years volunteering for Solent Dolphin, as crew members on the Alison MacGregor taking people out for trips in the Solent. Hazel also volunteered at Save e Children in Hythe for 25 years, during this time Hazel and the other volunteers were presented with an award from HRH Princess Anne. e couple are now living at Ashlett Dale Rest Home in Fawley, where they enjoyed a celebration with members of George and Hazel Allen celebrating their 72nd Wedding Anniversary their family and the other residents in the home. Eric Blyth was the Chair of Trustees and driving force behind Testwood Lakes Sailability (TLS), established in 2013 to provide dinghy sailing to people with disabilities. Eric sadly passed away in February this year and will be very much missed. is was shown by the number of friends, family and supporters who attended the naming of a new dinghy in his honour at Testwood Lakes on Monday 30th September. e naming ceremony was carried out by Sheila, his widow, along with Eric’s great friend Geo Holt. Not with the usual bottle of champagne but with Eric’s favourite, a mug of tea. e dinghy was funded by the collection in memory of Eric, together with funds donated by Southampton Magna Rotary Club and Sir Bevis Masonic Lodge No 5072. A er the naming, Eric’s younger son Martyn went for a sail in the dinghy skippered by Kevin Warland.
