With sponsorship for this event from Waterside Network Group and Dawkins & Lodge Opticians, the involvement of New Forest National Park Rangers and the wonderful generosity of the local community, £2,577.08 was raised. e music continued on Saturday 25th May with Grease Sing-a-long at Hythe Marina. is outdoor cinema was organised by Hythe Marina Association and Hythe Marina Village and was a fun night. Hythe Pier Heritage Association (HPHA) was invited to collect donations from the audience and would like to thank everyone involved in organising and those who attended for raising £621.40! Rock e Pier is next, on Saturday 27th July from 10am until 5.30pm and continuing in the Lord Nelson from 5.45pm. Bands performing on the Main Stage at the Pier entrance include e Soulcatchers, Trav Cats, e Doodle Cats and more. ere will also be a Pier Head stage with acoustic performances. e waiting room pop up café will be running, tickets for HPHA’s grand summer draw with amazing prizes will be on sale and the draw will take place towards the end of the event. ere will also be a Summer Market in Hythe Village centre that day. HPHA volunteers at the Spring into Action event on Hythe Pier (Photo taken by: Kiki Officer) As many of you are aware Gang Warily Scouts and Guides are raising funds to build a new HQ. In the rst year of fundraising, £20,000 was raised by running the monthly Table Top and Car Boot Sales, plus lots of other fundraising events. It was decided to run a swim the channel event at Applemore Recreation Centre pool. According to the Channel Swimming Association it is approximately 21 miles to swim the channel. Applemore’s main pool is 25 metres long, so they worked out that 21 miles is about 33,796 metres. So 1,352 lengths would need to be achieved in two hours to complete the swim the channel event. ere were 34 swimmers who took part including some younger non swimmers, who needed a little bit of help. A er two hours swimmers had completed an amazing 1,534 lengths. As a small token each swimmer was presented with a medal and certi cate. FUNDRAISING UPDATE FROM GANG WARILY SCOUTS & GUIDES
