Instead of spending his birthday going out on his motorbike, that he had dreamed of for so long, he spent it starting treatment in the Teenage and Young Adult unit at Southampton General Hospital. Instead of sitting his exams at school with his friends, he was able to complete 3 in hospital in between having treatment and amazingly he passed all 3. He is ghting hard but still facies months of intensive chemotherapy; the support the ward has given him has been amazing. ey try to make it a home from home as many Brandon’s family and staff on the Teenage Young Adult Unit of their patients, including Brandon, are in there for months at a time. In order to show support for Brandon and appreciation for the ward for all of their support and hard work, his family wanted to give something back. ey held a co ee and cake a ernoon – a chance to have a catch up with family and friends. ere was a ra e with some amazing prizes, tombola and some delicious cake. ey were totally overwhelmed by the support received from people and companies around the area as well as everyone who bought ra e tickets and supported them on the day. A massive £1330.32 was raised. Brandon’s family would like to say a BIG ank you to e Old Mill in Holbury for providing the venue for free and to everyone involved in arranging the event, donating prizes and cakes. Once again Habib and all the sta at BeBe’s café in Hythe opened their doors for another of their famous ‘Curry Nights’ in aid of the Waterside Cancer Support Centre. e sta all freely gave their time and everyone enjoyed a fantastic feast in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and nobody went home hungry! e total raised was £2,060.19. All the team at the Waterside Cancer Support Centre very much appreciated this amazing support. ey are very grateful and all the funds raised will be used to support the centre and its clients. Waterside Cancer Support Centre is open every week day from 10am until 4pm as a ‘Drop In’ for anyone a ected by Cancer. e Centre is situated at e Grove, St. Johns Street, Hythe.
