Gossip! by Dorothy Lockyer I met Molly Brown the other day She’d so many things she wanted to say! There in the aisle of the Superstore I heard her history and so much more! In confidence, I’ll tell you this, she said I don’t gossip, said I, nodding my head. As I left the shop, I bumped into Flo Just had to tell her the things I now know! I’m almost sure she wouldn’t pass them on But she was chatting to Betty after I’d gone. On reaching home, bags filled with the shopping My Hubby said, I thought you weren’t stopping! Well, I met Molly Brown, then bumped into Flo You wouldn’t believe what they told me though! Put the kettle on, we’ll have tea and a chat And I’ll tell you all, it’ll fair lift your hat! My Hubby went quiet, then looked at me A look that made me feel sort of guilty! Feathers ruffled, I asked, Why the deep frown? I’m thinking he said of poor Molly Brown Gossip for good could be advantageous But what you have done is quite outrageous! If you must gossip, then pass on good news Beware of rumour, watch your P’s and Q’s! All Over Again As the bright sun beats down From a cloudless blue sky It’s so hard to believe That many have died At the whim of a killer Ruthless and smart Patiently waiting To play his next part With a breeze in your face Your walk gathers pace Trees are in blossom Its natures spring race You cross over the stile Walk along by the stream But the stile holds a virus Covid Nineteen You did not notice it But it noticed you And it stuck to your hand Like the best man made glue It lurked by the streamside Awaiting its chance That chance just happened And its now time to dance It hibernates rapidly Somewhere inside It cannot be seen But it’s still smart to hide You will know nothing You don’t feel distressed Until your temperature rises And you start to regress It could be a cold Or you may have caught flu But the whole world’s in turmoil So how worried are you? You cannot stop coughing Your muscles are weak Its time to seek help You’re far from your peak The nurses and doctors Are angels in blue Daytime and nightime Attending to you You fight for your life On a breathing machine Time just stands still With Covid Nineteen But you’re not a statistic You’ll see a new day You’re winning your battle Covid driven away To lurk in new place’s Find a host for a friend To begin the procedure All over again It’s the whim of this killer Ruthless yet smart Patiently waiting To play his next part!
