Due to the unprecedented amount of food and sanitary donations made throughout the pandemic, the Foodbank were fortunate to only use £187 from the pot for supplies. Karleen Gammie explained that her colleagues in ASU had been trying to raise money for essential, lifesaving pieces of equipment such as a Dash monitor and an ECG machine, costing approximately £5,000 per machine. A Dash Monitor shows vital signs including your pulse rate and rhythm, blood pressure, oxygen saturations, respiration and altering if there is any change to the normal parameters. An ECG machine records the electrical signal created by your heart to check for di erent heart conditions. Electrodes are placed on the chest to record NHS FOODBANK 8K RUN your hearts electrical signals, which cause your heart to beat. e signals are shown as waves on an attached monitor. e Acute Surgical Department look a er all acutely unwell surgical patients that attend A&E or GP Referrals. Whilst they are still a fair way from their target of £10k they are aware that many have already donated to the pot. Nat and the others are asking anyone and everyone that can spare a couple of pounds to dig deep and help them reach that £10k mark to get the ASU these lifesaving pieces of equipment that are so important to help them provide more e cient and better care for future patients. £500 of the original funds have already been donated to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance trust, which they were incredibly grateful for. The line has a very strong case to be revived. Hampshire County Council is due to complete a business case for the project by November. In 2014, the council shelved the idea of reviving the line due to cost concerns. e scheme has recently been boosted by plans for a large housing development at Fawley, as well as increasing tra c congestion. SWR ran the one-off service to demonstrate the branch line potential, where there is already existing track. e ree Rivers Rail Partnership, which had led efforts to revive the line said necessary upgrades could cost £45 million, to include new level crossings, signals and a new terminus station at Fawley. e branch line was o cially opened in 1925 and was last used by Fawley re nery in 2017 and carries occasional freight to and from Marchwood Military Port. In June, Hampshire County Council won government funding to develop the business case for the scheme. Marchwood Station Amid Plans to Reopen Marchwood Station
