Established in 2016, ‘Waterside Women’ has gone from strength to strength reaching nearly 2,000 Facebook members and attracting more on a daily basis. Set up by group founder Sharon Kerr, initially to bring together similar minded, community focused, supportive women. Waterside Women (W.W) now have a committee of six who manage fundraising for local causes and raise awareness of local issues speci cally relevant to the women of the area. W.W is now raising in excess of £1,200 each month for local causes such as Oakhaven Hospice, Waterside Food Bank and e Honeypot Children’s Charity. Each week they have a hamper ra e and a monthly Lucky Ball Lottery, where members can win cash whilst adding to the fund pot. Recent fundraising e orts have enabled a new rescue sled to be purchased by the Stanswood Beach Rescue Charity based at Calshot Beach. Claire Hodge, Fundraising Manager for the charity thanks the Waterside Women directly: “We have taken ownership of our new rescue sled which you kindly purchased on behalf of Stanswood Beach Rescue. I, the trustees and the crew have been overwhelmed with your kind generosity. The Sudeste Rescue Sled was a vital addition to the service, the rescue sled attaches to the back of our rescue jet ski, allowing for a quicker approach to those who need an urgent response. We honestly cannot thank you enough and hope that once restrictions are lifted we can invite Waterside Women to our station at Calshot to see the crew and the rescue sled in action. Thanks again.” Calling local ladies to join the group, Waterside Women are now also accepting funding applications. To qualify, your local good cause or community project should ideally; fall within the SO45 postcode area, be used for treatment or special equipment for medical/mobility purposes or other local good causes. All applications will be considered and funding granted up to a maximum of £150. Applications are welcomed from all; you don’t need to be a charity. Application forms can be downloaded via the les directory on the Waterside Women Facebook page. New and Easy - Local Library Printing Service Printing a document at your local library is now even easier with Hampshire Libraries’ new email-to-print service. You don’t need to be a library member or log on to a library computer, simply email your document from any computer or smartphone and print it o within 72 hours using your unique ve-digit code at a participating library. Councillor Seán Woodward, Executive Member for Recreation and Heritage at Hampshire County Council, said: “Hampshire’s Library Service provides local communities with so much more than just exciting reads. In addition to a growing audiobook collection and activities such as Learning in Libraries courses, libraries also provide important community facilities such as computers and printers for the public to use. “As working and learning from home continue to be many residents’ new normal, providing a flexible and fuss-free printing service is another way that Hampshire’s Libraries are making people’s lives a little easier.” To use the service, anyone can email a document they’d like to print to library.print@hants.gov.uk to receive an automated email response with a ve- digit code. Printing can be collected at any participating branch by entering the print job code into a library printer and paying the correct change into the printer’s coin collector.
