Sam Long Limited is a family run business that has been providing fresh fruit and vegetables for over 100 years. Owner Sam is delighted to announce that she has recently secured a contract until the end of the year for her stall in Dibden Purlieu. Sam is very passionate about selling as much local and English produce as she can on her market stalls in Dibden Purlieu, Lymington and Alton (see advert for full details) and has built up good relationships with local suppliers with a lot of her high quality vegetables coming from a grower in Titch eld and her fresh eggs laid by chickens in Romsey. As the weather gets warmer over the coming months Sam will be stocking more seasonal local produce including, watercress from Romsey, New Forest strawberries, asparagus and rhubarb and lettuces grown in Salisbury as well as English tomatoes. Later in the summer you can look forward to juicy English cherries as they come into season in June. Sam o ers a fantastic service at her market stalls, if you are in a rush and don’t have time to queue and shop directly from the stall, you can contact her in advance with your order and her team will have it bagged up ready for you to pick up. To pre-order call Sam on: 07912 505065 or message her via her facebook page: facebook. com/samlonglimited Famed locally for the amazing drive-through that she set up during the lockdown at St. Andrew’s Church, Sam still provides a covid safe environment where shoppers can, if they wish, have a contact free shop without leaving their car and have their goods put into the car boot for them. For the environmentally conscious, Sam is committed to reducing plastic, wrapping all the produce in paper bags and any plastic and cardboard used on her stalls is either returned and reused or recycled. Helping you to reduce food waste, you can buy just what you need whether it’s a single apple for lunch that day or a larger order to feed Sam Long and her stall in Dibden Purlieu a family for the week. Sam was saddened about the news of Grove Gardens closing in Hythe, she comments: “I was so sad to hear that Martyn and Anna had decided to close their shop, there are very few people in this world willing to work the hours to supply fresh fruit and vegetables, the closure of Grove Gardens, another family-run business, is a great loss to the greengrocer trade as well as the local community.” e next Beach Survey/Clean organised by Hythe & Waterside Rotary at Lepe Beach will be held on Saturday 23rd April between 11am and 1pm. Rotary holds several of these events throughout the year, the last one being in January 2022, as part of the national campaign run by the Marine Conservation Society. Data is recorded on a speci c 100 metre stretch of the beach alongside a more general litter pick in the surrounding area which helps to ensure our coastline is as clean and safe as possible. A warm welcome awaits anyone wishing to join in with this project - please visit: www.hwrotary.org or telephone 023 8181 8187. ‘Lepe’ into Action!
