Kate and Marilyn are now over a month into their adventure and will hopefully have reached Hadrian’s Wall by the time of publishing. e pair are doing very well and Kate is providing daily updates on their progress and how they are both fairing, they’ve overcome a few issues with unexpected gates causing re-routing as well as the Great British weather! Kate is hoping to raise over £5,000 over the three month challenge to split between charities Vet Life and Pets as erapy. To enable these sessions to run, the facilitators Dot and Baz Croall are seeking volunteers who have experience of a similar role whether in medical, educational, social service or pastoral setting and can provide support for those who have experienced loss. e weekly sessions in the Healthy Haven garden room will start on Thursday 2nd June , running every ursday 1pm-5pm. e free events are open for local residents to drop in for a chat; they are hoping to introduce one-on- one appointments with trained volunteers/councillors going forward. If you, or someone you know, may be su ering loss, or grieving whether to ill health, divorce, loss of a family member or any other reason you are welcome to go along and join them. Rehearsing from 7.30pm-9pm on a Wednesday evening in the Methodist Church, Chapel Lane, Fawley the new choir, New Forest Sounds, aim to put on at least two concerts a year, one in Spring and one at Christmas hopefully being able to donate to charities as well as supporting local events when the opportunity arises. Conducted by Dawn Hall and accompanied by Rose Butler, the choir sing in two or three parts and their programmes will consist of songs from the shows and other popular music. Currently they are working on items associated with the Queen in preparation for an informal concert just in front of family and friends in celebration of the Jubilee. ey will then start preparing for their rst public performance, a Christmas concert in St John’s church, Hythe on Wednesday 7th December when they hope a large audience will come and support them and have a thoroughly enjoyable time.
