Highlights included the Doodle Cats swing band accompanied by a hula-hoop dancer, a huge bouncy castle, the Waterside Charity Fire Engine, and a showstopping performance from a troupe of street dancers. Even the Rector was dancing! With chairs and long tables set out in the sun, lunchtime was a big picnic where anyone could bring their own food or enjoy free cream teas, hot dogs estimated between 300 and 400 people enjoyed the occasion. There were smiles all round and a great mixture of people. I was even caught dancing on camera at one point! We distributed 240 cakes, 125 cream teas, 30 savoury teas and 40 buttered scones with strawberries, 100 hot dogs and ketchup, 200 ice creams, endless cups of tea and coffee (16 pints of milk were used), and we had 300-400 attendees, 3 hours of dry weather and over 50 fantastic volunteers. Many thanks to Cllrs Stephanie Osborne and Malcolm Wade of Hythe and Dibden Parish Council for funding the event – the combined grant they gave us meant it was all free of charge!” To view photos and videos from the day please visit: www.facebook.com/hashtag/dibdenchurchesjubilee Rotary Jubilee Garden Party Rotarian Ian Wheeler and his wife hosted a fun a ernoon in their garden for a group of Rotarians, their families and friends. Attendees enjoyed picnics, bubbly, delicious cakes and games of croquet as well as raising several toasts to Her Majesty the Queen. is social event even managed to raise donations of nearly £330 which will be donated to The Applemore Foundation for their Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
