Having had a orist shop in Shirley, Southampton for 12 years Andrea had plenty of stories to tell. Passionate about owers the emphasis on rustic and natural elements came from growing up in the New Forest. Telling of Valentine’s Day 4 weeks a er opening her shop Andrea used red Naomi roses with Snowball Viburnam, Ferns, Ivy and contorted Willow on a heart shaped frame. A striking display mirrored by a smaller edition. e next big event for a orist was Mother’s Day so Andrea demonstrated an amazing hand tied bouquet featuring double Rosa Lilies (no one had ever seen these) Saponaria, Eucalyptus and hard Ruscus. A gi that anyone would be delighted to receive. Having told them of doing oral displays for the Queen when she came to Southampton and visited the New Forest Show it was an obvious choice to design a crown. A moss covered cushion was topped with a red, white and blue crown featuring blue Larkspur, white Stocks and red Sweet Williams. Myrtle was amongst the foliage used as traditionally it features in royal wedding bouquets o en from Osborne House on the Isle of Wight. Next they had a rustic door wreath made entirely of dried materials including grasses, Hydrangea heads and Alliums. Andrea told of making a Christmas wreath for her daughter who wanted something whacky. e resulting design was Brussel sprouts which went viral on social media leading to a TV and radio interviews which at a busy time of year proved challenging. Finally, they had a wonderful design on a candelabra remembering Andrea’s daughter’s wedding. Pink Avalanche roses, Alstromeria, Clematis, Viburnum were accompanied by trailing foliage to make a very romantic design. To accompany it was a gorgeous bouquet fashioned for the Mother of the bride. Although only doing her fourth demonstration Andrea clearly is very talented and they will be seeing her in the future.
