With fewer visitors, late summer blooms and signs of autumn creeping in, this is one of the very best times to visit the gardens. Hardy perennials, such as helianthus, helenium and aster, present their bold and brilliant colours in our borders. Whilst many of our spring owering trees and shrubs bear their eye-catching fruit, such as scarlet red berries. Look closely at our trees and you will see a beautiful array of seed pods, our acer collection in particular shows o some ne winged seeds. Our Hydrangea collection also continues the last of its calming display with its subtle colours of pink, purple and blue. If you haven’t visited our Artist’s Fairy Door trail you can follow it until 3rd September, a er this our beautifully decorated doors will be looking for new homes through auction. All money raised through the auction will support Furzey Gardens and people with learning disabilities. You can nd out more at www. minsteadtrust.org.uk/artistdoors. For the gardeners amongst you, stop by our plant sales area on your visit and pick up some quality plants at low prices. Our plants have been nurtured in our onsite plant nursery by people with learning disabilities, from planting seed, to potting on, weeding and watering, the people we support are involved in every step. You can visit our plant sales area for free, so why not pop in and see what delights you can nd for your own garden. Our cosy thatched tea room will be serving a range of drinks, light lunches and snacks. Don’t forget to sample some of our delicious cakes too.
