We visited the Romsey Signal Box, King John’s House and Garden and had a walk around Romsey looking for the answers to a quiz. Regularmonthly indoor activities run by Greenbuttercup Dementia Services will be re-starting in Romsey in September with ‘Arts & Cra s’, ‘Reminiscence Activities’ and ‘Singing’ to look forward to. All activities take place in the Green Room at the Plaza eatre in Romsey, SO51 8JA, on a Friday morning from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Anyone with a Dementia is welcome to come along with their relative/carer. On the first Friday of the month, we hold our fun ‘Arts & Cra s’ group. ere is a di erent activity each time and no experience is necessary. We do not charge for the rst session, so you can come along and see if you’d like to join us. Upcoming sessions are: Friday 1st September (Mobiles), Friday 6th October (Plant-pot animals), Friday 3rd November (Christmas Cra s). On the third Friday of the month, we run a ‘Reminiscence Activity’ group which can be a talk, games etc. Again, there is a di erent subject each time, and upcoming sessions are: Friday 15th September ‘A New Forest Year’ (talk by Wild New Forest), Friday 20th October ‘Local Folklore’ (with storyteller Michael O’Leary) and Friday 17th November is an interactive session with the Army Flying Museum. On the fourth Friday of the month, we will once again be ‘Singing with Traci’. is is a fun ‘sing-along’ rather than a choir, and participants are free to join in as much or as little as they wish and songs are mainly from the 60’s and 70’s. Sessions will take place on Friday 22nd September, Friday 27th October and Friday 24th November. All sessions cost £3 per person attending and this covers any materials, instruction etc. necessary and tea/co ee with biscuits. All helpers are Dementia Friends and there is always a First Aidtrained person available. Although not legally required, as we near winter again, volunteers will all take a COVID test before they attend and participants will have their temperature taken on arrival. Places are popular and need to be booked in advance. For further information, or to book a place, please call: 01794 501605 or email: greenbuttercupdement iaservices@ gmail.com
