Another reason for updating your will is if any of the bene ciaries have sadly died before you. If you don’t update it, your Will may simply be out of date and your estate may not be distributed in the way you would now have wanted. A Will “speaks from death” so can change your Will as o en as you like. It is the last one you make before you die that is used. So you can always change your Will if your circumstances change. In the past small changes were dealt with by Codicils but nowadays it is simple and clearer to make a new Will. I know that a er people have made a Will, which may have taken them a while to get around to doing, they do not want to think about it again. But it really is worth reading through your Will from time to time to make sure it still does what you want it to do. Don’t forget also to tell the people who are important to you that you have made a new Will and take advice on what to do with the old Will.
