Every year St John’s Church in Hythe like to inform the local community of their church service times in the most angelic of ways. At the beginning of December the church give away little hand cra ed angel keepsakes along with their Christmas service times attached. Last year the church gave away 1,000 angels and is hoping to top that number this year. e ‘Angel Lady’ Sue Blomley is asking for anyone who enjoys knitting, crocheting or sewing to get involved to help them to exceed last year’s total. If you are able to help you can pick up a pattern from e Herald O ce. OPEN DAY AT ST JOHN’S MARCHWOOD On Saturday 9th September St John’s Church, Main Road, Marchwood, will be holding an Open Day between 10am and 4pm. is will be an opportunity for everyone to go and look round this 180 year old Grade II listed building and discover something about its long history. ere will be an exhibition in the church, together with a quiz for those who wish to take part, and refreshments will be available in the Church Hall. e Open Day coincides with the annual National Heritage Week. Soup & Sweet at Trinity Church, Hazel Farm Road, Totton, SO40 8WU takes place on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 12.30pm to 2pm. For £4 per person you can have soup with a bread roll followed by a sweet and a tea or co ee. Very good value in congenial company – they hope to see you there! Soup & Sweet OUT AND ABOUT WITH THE RSPB e New Forest local group of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds is holding an indoor meeting on Wednesday 13th September. Andy Lester, Conservation Liaison O cer for Hampshire Ornithological Society, will help the group improve their ‘Duck Identi cation’.  e meeting starts at 7.30pm in the Lyndhurst Community Centre, central car park, High Street, Lyndhurst SO43 7NY (doors open at 7pm). e group plan a eld trip to Calshott/Ashlett Creek near Fawley (SU 480 012) on Saturday 9th September from 10am to 1pm. Meet in the free parking area by the Bluebird Café on the B3053.
