All prizes for the competition and ra e were donated by the members along with several items for auction. John Pocket from the Honeypot Children’s Charity acted as auctioneer encouraging the Seniors to bid high. Seniors Treasurer Ken Scott ran a fun heads or tails game and along with voluntary donations, that truly amazing gure of over £800 was achieved. Scores in the competition were generally higher than normal possibly because of the mulligans, although many competitors did not to use all that they had purchased. Division 1: 1st Phil Walker 44 pts, 2nd Jim Worsley 42 pts, 3rd Malcolm Guy 41 pts (back 9=24, back 6=17), 4th Chris Bennett 41 pts (back 9=24, back 6=16), 5th Ken Scott 41 pts (back 9=21, back 6=16), 6th Steve Duckett 41 pts (back 9=21, back 6=14). Commiserations to Chris Angell also with 41 pts but back 9=20) Division 2: 1st Dave Titchmarsh 41 pts, 2nd Ian Coundon 40 pts, 3rd Ted Groves 39 pts (back 9=23), 4th John Pickering 39 pts (back 9=19), 5th Rob Anderson 38 pts (back 9=23), 6th Colin Bailey 38 pts (back 9=21). But it was always all about the charity and the amazing work done to provide young carers aged 5-12 with respite and ongoing support. Honeypot Children’s Charity banners on the 1st tee at New Forest Golf Club SUMMER PLATE ursday 13th July 36 New Forest Golf Club Seniors turned out for this singles strokeplay competition o the white tees. e weather was comfortably warm but cloudy with course conditions good. In Division 2, it was a close run for rst place, John Cockshott clinching it with a highly commendable score of nett 65. In Division 1 meanwhile, Chris Hughes demolished the opposition with a round that featured 8 pars and 3 birdies for a total of nett 63 to claim the Summer Plate. Division 1: 1st Chris Hughes 63 nett, 2nd Alan Clifford 67 nett, 3rd Phil Walker 68 nett Division 2: 1st John Cockshott 65 nett, 2nd Mike Broom 66 nett, 3rd Wayne Niles 67 nett (30 back 9).
