Oakhaven Hospice are challenging the New Forest, Totton, and Waterside communities to ‘do something di erent’ to make a di erence this October. OAKtober is a challenge for schools, businesses, and members of the community to join Oakhaven in fundraising throughout the month of October. Could you dedicate a whole month to Oakhaven? Walk it, teach it, wear it, make it or donate it, there are so many ways you can ‘do it’ for OAKtober. Could you run, cycle or swim a mile a day? Host a tea party, cocktail night or cookery class? Can you swap your morning co ee for a healthy green smoothie or go sober for OAKtober? No challenge is too big or too small to get fundraising this October. You can also get involved in their Wear It Green Day on Friday 20th October! Wear green eyeshadow, don your favourite green socks or be amboyant in a green feather boa! Simply wear green and donate what you can. Look out for the special displays and donation bags in Oakhaven shops. And if you can handle this, maybe you’ll be ready to take on the ultimate challenge, a aming nale to OAKtober! Join the Fire and Ice Walk on Wednesday 25th October, where the bravest souls (and bravest soles!) will walk over broken glass and hot coals in the October twilight. OAKtober will be launched on Saturday 16th September, at Moore Barlow’s courtyard on Lymington High Street, where the fundraising team will be on hand to promote awareness of how you can take part. Go along, meet the team, and do something di erent for OAKtober! ese are some of the events planned so far for OAKtober: Pilley Village is challenging itself to raise £1,000 for OAKtober, with the shop, working men’s club, school, parish council and residents all taking part in a variety of ways, including in a skip-athon. Look out for the special knitting set to adorn the village! Emily White will be walking 70 miles in memory of her mother Sarah White, who would have turned 70 this year. Emily will be walking in 5 stages, and in locations of personal signi cance across the UK, including Cumbria, Cotswolds and the south coast. e payroll department at Trant Engineering in Totton are showing nerves of steel and awesome team spirit by participating together in ACRYLICS e New Forest Art Society’s next monthly meeting is on Wednesday 20th September for a Demonstration in Acrylics with Heather Joli e. Followed on Wednesday 18th October for a demonstration in Printmaking, Lino and Woodcut with Will Dyke. New members are always welcome and visitors are invited to go along for a small entry fee.
