Ailey 2, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this season, is known for bringing together the creative vision of exceptional choreographers with the spirit, energy and talent of the next generation of dance artists. e result is captivating performances of grace, strength and soul, shot through with the unique Ailey spirit. e company’s new Artistic Director Francesca Harper has put together an exhilarating repertoire featuring four works: excerpts from her own Freedom Series and William Forsythe’s Enemy in the Figure along with e Hunt, choreographed by Robert Battle, artistic director of Alvin Ailey American Dance eater, and Revelations, Alvin Ailey’s 1960 masterwork and a signature piece of all the Ailey companies. Time is running out to sign up for this year’s Solent Half Marathon which is taking place on Sunday 1st October at 10am. e deadline for entries to this popular race, organised by Hardley Runners, is 24th September. e 13.1 mile route starts at Gang Warily Recreation Centre and heads out through Rollestone Road towards Hill Top where runners take in excellent views of the New Forest, from there the course leads towards Exbury Gardens and continues along the coast road and Lepe shoreline with spectacular views of the Solent and the Isle of Wight, then continues on country lanes towards Fawley before heading back to the nish on the grass at Gang Warily. e race starts at 10am and all nishers will be chip timed and receive a bespoke medal and running mementos. ere will also be the opportunity to have a postrace massage and some cake! Minimum age for runners is 17; there will also be a Children’s Fun Run (£3 entry on the day). Spectators are very welcome and really give the runners a boost!
