WE NEED YOUR HELP… by Carol Ibbotson e Fawley Parish Church ‘Love in a Box’ campaign is back again this year - our 25th year of taking part in this wonderful initiative, coordinated by the Mustard Seed Relief Missions Charity. On Saturday 21st October, from 2pm until 4pm, the Good Shepherd Church, Roewood Road, Holbury will once again be bustling with activity as shoe boxes are packed with gi s of toys, stationery and toiletries. ese will be taken to Eastern Europe in time for Christmas, for disadvantaged children aged 3 to 15. We would like to ll as many boxes as possible, but we will need lots of help to succeed. Items needed for the shoeboxes are: • Small toys and games – but nothing war-related or battery operated • Teddies and dolls • Toiletries – but no liquids or sprays and no glass containers • Hair accessories and jewellery • Hats, scarves, gloves - but no socks or other clothing • Picture books – but not stories, as few can read English • Stationery • Wrapped sweets If you have items to donate, or would like more information about ‘Love in a Box’, please contact me. e deadline for receipt of items is Saturday 14th October. Beaulieu Abbey Church Choral Scholars Head Off to the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire of Music On Sunday 13th August a packed Beaulieu Abbey Church said farewell to choral scholars William Swinnerton (17) and Alexandra Burstow (19) as they both head o to the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire of Music. Both William and Alexandra have completed their nal year as singers in the professional choir at Beaulieu Abbey and performed a stunning recital of music by Bach, Handel, Haydn and others to a large and appreciative crowd of well-wishers. As young professional singers, they will complete three years of study at the prestigious Conservatoire but have promised to return to Beaulieu Abbey later this year, to sing at the annual Messiah Part 1, on Friday 22nd December. Beaulieu Abbey Church offer choral scholarships to young, upcoming classical singers who want to gain experience within a supportive, friendly and professional group.
