With 80 scarecrows to nd on this year’s trail, held on the 7th and 8th October, designs included Willy Wonka, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Rabbit, a sloth, gingerbread men and much more. e prize for best in show went to ‘Lyndhurst Tug of War Team’. e fundraising event raised an incredible £3144.79 for St Michael’s and All Angels School PTA in Lyndhurst, with money coming from the sale of maps and ra e tickets and over £800 raised by the community at Forest Gardens who hosted a fabulous ‘tea on the green’ selling refreshments for trail followers to enjoy alongside a Mad Hatter’s tea party scarecrow display! £401 of the total was raised by e Stag in Lyndhurst who hosted a Barn Dance over the weekend. e organisers of the Lyndhurst Scarecrow Trail would like to thank all those in the community that came together to help make this year’s trail happen – the amazing scarecrow creators, Co-Op and Tesco on Lyndhurst High Street for selling maps, e Stag Lyndhurst who sold maps and hosted the most Best in Show: Lyndhurst Tug of War Team amazing Barn Dance! e residents of Forest Gardens for their tea on the green, Designer Emily Dudman for designing the trail maps and posters free of charge, Spotlight Homes for arranging and putting up the advertising boards at their own cost, to all the local ra e donators including Burrow & Hide, Onomatopoeia, Roly’s Fudge, BlackStar Records, Andrew David Hair, Lyndhurst Tea Rooms, Bolton’s Bench Sweet Shop, e Swan Pub and more. Helping to Feed the Animals £41.30 has recently been transferred to Barry’s Farm’s Mole Valley account thanks to the donations made via the collection pot in e Herald o ce. Waterside Veterans Co ee Club are organising a Christmas Cra Fair that will be taking place at the Fawley Royal British Legion on Saturday 18th November, 10am to 4pm. ere will be many local cra ers, bakers and produce makers selling gi s and treats for Christmas and to enjoy on the day. ere will be cakes, teas and co ees available.
