Waterside’s men became champions of Division 3 of the NF and Division 2 of the S&DMBA Combination Leagues in addition to winning the New Forest’s President’s Trophy. Success continued in the New Forest competitions with Waterside reaching the nals in 8 of the 11 games. A special mention must go to Jamie Hughes who won the Champion of Champions in both the New Forest and Southampton and District Associations. e ladies also had another successful season by becoming champions of the NF Women’s Bowling Association ‘A’ league along with winning the NF Triples and Mixed Pairs competitions and having nalists in both the Championship Singles and Pairs. Lesley Mitchell also won the 2 wood singles of the S&DWBA along with being nalists in the both the Ciss Dyer triples and fours. With the Waterside ladies also being runners up in the Club Championship. But it’s not all about competitions at the Waterside; with over 110 playing members they have enjoyed a very active social calendar and with two greens they have sometimes had 72 members participating at the same time, with ages ranging from 15 to 96! eir social events will continue throughout the winter months but sadly the bowling greens are now closed for the winter with them all waiting in eager anticipation for next season. All funds raised will support opportunities for people in Uganda, Sierra Leone, Zambia, Ghana and Malawi to rebuild their lives when they join their vocational training projects, to learn a trade, and be equipped with Will you dare to join in one of this year’s Romsey Ghost Walks? e walks start at 7.30pm from the Town Square on 30th November and 28th December. Romsey Ghost Walks The Ampfield Market (Est. 2000) e Market is always held on the first Saturday of the month excluding January and August which are holiday months. It takes place in Amp eld Village Hall (SO51 9BJ), between 10am and 12noon. Parking and admission are free. e Market has become a very popular meeting place, o ering the best value, most delicious refreshments in Hampshire! Every e ort is made to keep the sales tables lively and interesting. ere are top quality, locally sourced items for sale including cakes, biscuits, savoury foods, honey, fresh bread, eggs, plants, fruit and veg, cra s, books, cards, wrapping paper, jewellery and collectables. ey order their fruit and veg from Hansards a very reputable local supplier and they endeavour to sell a good variety of fresh, seasonal produce every month. ey are delighted to announce that Matt’s Bakery in Chandlers Ford is now supplying their bread each month. e Market generates almost £2,000 a year towards Village Hall funds. e Market team generously volunteer their time and baking skills to provide a delicious seasonal selection of cakes every month, which are served with co ee throughout the morning. e next Amp eld Market will take place on Saturday 2nd December between 10am and 12noon.
