All positions for club o cers were lled for 2023-2024. e club spare parts specialist and supplier gave a talk on the Austin A series engine cooling system titled ‘Letting o Steam’. e speaker said for the purposes of the talk, “You have acquired an A30 vehicle that has no service or mechanical history and the cooling system is empty.” A list of fault nding checks, visual and mechanical, were suggested to enable the system to work correctly. e members were able to share their experience on faults and recti cation tips which made the talk extremely useful. e group found the talk very interesting and enjoyable. A recent article in e Herald, reporting on a member’s talk on early radios, prompted a member of the public to get in touch with the club o ering radio items that might be of interest. Contact was made and the items were quickly collected before they went in the skip. is shows the power of the local press and was a nice story to nish the meeting on. The Southampton and New Forest Group of the Austin A30/A35 Owners’ Club members are continuing to enjoy the friendly, social atmosphere forgetting those enthusiasts who appreciate them but don’t have one of their own, to come and meet the club members with a view to joining. Members have a range of classic vehicles such as Bedford, Ford, Land Rover, Mercedes, M.G., Morris, Riley, Saab, Triumph and Volkswagen enabling the club to expand the membership. The next meeting - Thursday 14th December. Meetings take place on the second ursday of each month, starting at 7.30pm, at Netley Marsh Community Hall, Woodlands Rd, SO40 7GH. Do go along and meet them. ‘LIFE’S TOO SHORT – PUT SOME MILES ON IT’ Selection of parts used in talk at their monthly meetings. Every meeting includes a ra e with many members leaving with a prize or two. e club holds many events throughout the year with speakers on various topics, picnics, quizzes, car meets, club drive days and an annual charity auction.
