The event had been delayed due to the water shortage on the Waterside but was a rescheduled success which raised a considerable amount of money for this excellent charity. Rotarians Jim and Terri Whitehouse and Ian and Christine Wheeler were made very welcome at the Legion where everyone enjoyed a Chilli and bread supper a er the quiz. Well done to everyone involved. Team Rotary at the quiz Local Knitters Help To Create Poppy Tributes at Lepe Poppies hand knitted or crocheted by local people, including veterans, were used to create this year’s stunning Poppy Wave that cascaded over the staircase of the Lookout at Lepe Country Park, and an additional Poppy Arch was created and installed on top of the cli . Louise Payne, who works at the country park, came up with the idea for the Poppy Wave tribute last year and has worked tirelessly again this year to create the beautiful tributes, thanks to the help of an army of local cra ers who donated an amazing 2,800 poppies this year. Lepe Country Park would like to thank all those who made and donated poppies for this year’s installations including: Louise Payne, Waterside Veterans Co ee Club, Exbury Cra s, Waterside Poppy Ladies, Carmen Brown, Jane Robertson, Cherry Wathall Robson, Trudy Ottaway, Val Stoten, Lynn Tarry, Alison Edwards, Sally Denyer, Sylvia Noyce, Jane Vaughon- Wilson, Lynne Godfrey, G Wood, Pat Smith, Claire Bath, Sue Gilson, Shirley Young, Doreen Goodwin and Dawn Hinks. is year visitors were able to make both cash and online donations with funds going straight to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. e total rasied was £594.43. Poppy Wave at Lepe Exbury Craft Club Create Poppy Displays For Remembrance Over the past couple of months Exbury Club cra group have been busy knitting and crocheting poppies. Some were given to Lepe Country Park for their installation, the rest made into a display for Exbury Club. e wreath took many hours of work sewing on all of the poppies, with the remainder attached to camou age netting and displayed in the bar area and outside at the entrance. Everyone involved was delighted with the results of their hard work and more importantly so was Exbury Club. Well done to all of the ladies involved plus some of their friends who contributed poppies. e cra club meets every Friday morning at Exbury Club, Summer Lane, Exbury from 9.30am to 11.30am.
