To help the lovebirds celebrate, carers prepared decorations for the gathering as well as their favourite refreshments, followed by visits from friends and family, who showered them in gi s. Stanley rst spotted Betty at the Southampton Guildhall dancing with a group of friends and decided to make the rst move. ey soon a er became inseparable as their connection blossomed, leading to a beautiful marriage in 1952, that saw them settling down in Netley for most of their married life. Stanley shared his secret to a long, happy marriage: “Always work together as a team! We have never had an argument. Betty always looked after the finances as that’s her professional background.
