If you are interested in giving your garden what it Steve McDonnell-Daly, Area demonstrator from Sussex, arrived at the club a er a di cult journey battling with weather conditions. e title of his demonstration was ‘Paint the Stage with Stars’. e rst design incorporated two very large interlocking curved palm spades. Several di erent types of foliage provided the outline including phormium, palm leaves, aspidistra, leather leaf fern, eucalyptus and fatsia. Very unusual gold pompom chrysanthemums together with yellow tea roses completed this stunning design in between the two spades. A very tall silver sparkly tapered container was the choice for this design. Phormium, fatsia, eucalyptus, leather leaf fern and palm leaves were inserted together with large white chrysanthemums, a beautiful white orchid, white lisianthus and pussy willow placed to one side of the design. As a nal touch a piece of silver material was draped around the container. An asymmetrical design using palm spades was created. Beautiful large yellow chrysanthemums were added together with mauve carnations and mauve sea lavender. Two red boat shaped containers were used for this design. Palm leaves were inserted together with red Naomi roses, red carnations and mauve sea lavender. e two designs were placed on a stand. Two placements were created for the last design. Large yellow chrysanthemums, mauve chrysanthemums, green orchids and pink roses were inserted and the pots placed at the front of the stage. Large tall red and gold Christmas decorations were placed in each arrangement before Steve proceeded to add varying sizes of silver sparkly cones around this nal design. Steve then appeared dressed in a red and gold patterned coat and hat. It was a wonderful a ernoon with so much hilarity and beautiful arrangements. e next meeting will take place on Tuesday
