Adam placed rst in the category ‘Up Close and Personal’, which recognises individuals who have gone the extra mile, using case studies to explain the process of supporting clients through periods of vulnerability. is includes supporting clients’ nancial needs alongside their independence and emotional needs. It is a double success for Adam, who was last year’s winner in the Vulnerable Customer Champion category. What the judges said: “An excellent case throughout, very well handled with all the family protection planning in place and good financial planning all round.” John Somerville, Director of Financial Services, Professional Education at the London Institute of Banking & Finance. Stephen Lowe, Group Communications Director at the retirement specialist Just Group, commented: “The Vulnerable Customer Awards were set up by Just Group to celebrate and commend firms that go above and beyond to help their vulnerable customers. This year Adam won the ‘Up Close and Personal’ category, a real achievement following his win last year in the Vulnerable Customer Champion category. In the ‘Up Close and Personal’ category the judges were looking for evidence of an adviser’s detailed understanding of a client’s vulnerability, how the adviser responded to this and what solutions they put in place to help the client meet their own specific circumstances. In his entry Adam shared the story of how the team at New Forest Wealth Management very quickly put in place a financial plan to support a client and their family as they grappled with the shock of a sudden and long-term vulnerability. The attention to detail in understanding what the client really needed and wanted, both in the short and longer term, was remarkable. The work by Adam and the team took this client from a place of great uncertainty to financial stability. Many congratulations to Adam and the team on this welldeserved win!” In recent years, armed with the knowledge that everyone is at risk of being vulnerable, the nancial advice community has sought to ensure vulnerable clients are recognised and supported with outcomes as good as those of other customers. Adam’s professional and academic work has been important in advocating for the needs of vulnerable clients. He says: “Financial services professionals have a duty to provide the best outcomes for their clients. When a client is considered vulnerable, they can face hinderances to accessing advice that provides the optimal outcome and it is our job as financial advisers to change this to ensure fairness in the industry.” Adam is proud to have won an award that recognises the extra mile he goes for his vulnerable clients, and when leading his team of advisers at New Forest Wealth Management to work with the same focus on vulnerable client care.
