A total of 10 pictures were chosen to be projected onto the house, with 3 out of the 10 chosen, created by Noadswood pupils. Charlie Hudson won 1st prize winning a family ticket to the event and £1000 for the school’s art department, Kaitlyn Waller took 2nd place and Ethan Whitaker was a runner up, both receiving a family ticket to the Light Up trail. Noadswood Headteacher Miss Marshall and Art team members, Mrs Brown, Mrs Mansbridge and Mrs Powell went along to the opening night of the trail on Wednesday 29th November, enjoying time with some of the winning students and their families. ey said “It was quite a moment when the pupil’s artwork shone across the gardens, and their names, too! The prize money funded by Light Up Trails and Bath Spa University has been so welcomed by all in the Art team.” Competition winner Charlie Hudson’s design Kaitlyn’s design Orchard Junior’s Water Walk Raises £600 In the 449 issue of e Herald we reported on the Water Walk challenge undertaken by Year 5 pupils at Orchard Junior School. A er learning about local charity, e Kisoboka Trust, the children took home empty Costa cups to ll with donations of loose change from family and friends as sponsorship for their Water Walk at school, raising money to help the Charity continue their work in bringing safe drinking water to schools in Uganda. e children have now counted and bagged up all their donations. Year 5 Lead Jo Fenton and pupils Olivia, Ruby and Laia, walked their donations on a trolley from the school to Dibden Purlieu Post O ce. Paulesh and his team at the Post O ce kindly helped the children to deposit the £600, made up of mainly small change, to the Charity’s account. Jo comments: “We would like to say a massive thank you to our year 5 pupils, families and friends for all of your generous contributions to our Water Walk. We are absolutely thrilled to have raised £600 for The Kisoboka Trust. Thank you to Paulesh and his team for their patience and help to deposit the donations.” Debbie Perkin from e Kisoboka Trust, based in Woodlands, visited the children in December to thank them for their hard work. Many children in Uganda don’t have access to safe drinking water. As part of their Emmaus project, e Kisoboka Trust is helping to change that. e project installs 20,000 litre water tanks with lters and associated components in primary schools in the Masaka district of Uganda. is provides these schools with their own water storage, providing drinking water between wet seasons.
