Smiley faces and good cheer was had by all whilst we were treated to an inspirational demonstration perfect for our celebrations: Graham King “All that Glitters”. Graham didn’t disappoint us with his creative mechanics and colourful arrangements, which were all inspiring, and had everyone silent with anticipation when they were ra ed o . ose very lucky ladies couldn’t contain their delight. Two of Graham’s mechanics were sculptures of garden wire wrapped in wool (by using a cordless drill), sprayed with golden glitter and adorned with fairy lights. One with empty pearlised baubles holding water for owers to sit. One sculpture was a circular, sideways design made from a metal (brass look) tray which had been cut to reveal a “frilly” hole adorned with gold organza and blue jewels. It was attached to thick wire legs and xed onto a wooden base. He used fabric for two of the sculptures around polystyrene balls or garden wire. All the sculptures complimented the owers and foliage he chose. Some foliage had a hint of gold or silver spray to catch the light, some had been polished with leaf shine, some le natural to add to the feast for our eyes. His owers included gypsophila, which can be dried and used again, roses, carnations, lisianthus, calla lilies, astilbe, hypericum berries, chrysanthemums, antirrhinum and holly berries. e arrangements were shades of mauve, multi coloured opulence, rose pinks and frosty white – seven stunning arrangements. Refreshments were served by the lovely Nikki and her team – hot drinks, mince pies, and stollen and friends caught up. A truly wonderful evening had been had by all. Wishing everyone a wonderful 2024! Next meetings: No meeting in January. 1st February: Demonstration by Carole Norman ‘Surprise!’ 7th March: AGM and Show Night ‘a Memorable Event’.
