Sunday Services New Groups Starting in 2024 from The Parish of Hythe Happy New Year to you all from everyone at St John’s and St Anne’s! We have got lots of exciting new things planned for 2024 so please keep your eyes peeled for details of these. Here are a couple of things that we have launching in January: Who Let the Dads Out – Rev Lee will be running Who Let the Dads Out on a Saturday morning once a month. is is a new group for dads and male carers and children of all ages. ere will be bacon butties, newspapers, and lots of fun activities for the children. Come along and join the fun at St John’s Hall on Saturday 6th January, 10am to 12noon and Saturday 3rd February, 10am to 12noon. Alpha – we will be running an Alpha Course in St Go along with an open mind to join this Reading Group who read and discuss the Bible together, to form their own opinions about its message. Weekly on Fridays, 7pm to 8.30pm in the Totton and Eling Community Centre. Refreshments available from 6.30pm and further information from Julie: 07779 362358. BIBLE CLUB John’s Hall on ursday evenings starting on 11th January. Each week we’ll be chatting about faith in a friendly, informal and open environment. Dinner will also be provided. We’d love to welcome you along to these or any of our other regular activities. e Hythe Christmas Tree Festival signalled the beginning of Christmas in Hythe. e event ran from the 25th November to 7th December held at St John’s Church, Hythe. is annual event organised by Hythe 2000 Charitable Trust and St John’s Church proved community spirit is alive and kicking in Hythe with hundreds of people ocking to see the stunning display. e church held more than forty- ve trees lining the pews with the centrepiece, a 3-meter remembrance Christmas tree, drawing admiration from those who stepped foot through the door. e concept was simple - local groups, businesses, HYTHE CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL RAISES £3000! from Hythe 2000 societies, families, friends, and individuals were invited to donate an arti cial Christmas tree to the festival and decorate it to a theme of their own choice. ere was a variety of interesting trees themed to promote causes, humorous, thought provoking, or just simply artistic. During the Festival visitors had the opportunity to auction for a tree using the silent auction forms. At the end of the festival the highest bidder collected their tree to enjoy at home! roughout the festival visitors nominate a favourite tree. is year’s winner was Hythe Sea Scouts. Hythe 2000 Charitable Trust Chairperson Elizabeth Deadman awarded the trophy to Toby Burden (Cubs) and Eli Burden (Beavers). e festival did exceptionally well, we are pleased to have raised approximately £3000! With donations, monies made from refreshments, sale of cra items and competitions. is is due to our fantastic community and the support of our wonderful volunteers who welcomed visitors. ank you so much. e aim of the Hythe Christmas Tree Festival is to create a community celebration, at the same time as raising funds for the Hythe 2000 Charitable Trust for its work in the community and St John’s Church.
