Graham is very talented and makes his own containers using various types of fabric, wool, beads and paint. e container for the first design had been created using pink beads and gold wire. Various types of foliage were added including arum italicum pictum, euonymous, conifer and some asparagus sprayed gold. Bi-colour red roses and lilac roses, purple calla lilies, red and pink spray carnations and red hypericum berries were added before finishing with some lights. A round metal tray had been adapted by Graham and xed to a stand. A diagonal design was created using gold birch stems together with red ilex berries. Fatsia sprayed gold, choisya and gold sprayed asparagus was added together with bi-colour red and cream roses and some red carnations. A very tall container made with wool, fabric and paint in shades of blue and mauve came next. Two placements for this design. Silver sprayed fatsia and some Christmas tree foliage was added. Purple calla lilies cascaded to one side and blue clematis was added together with gypsophila. The fourth design incorporated several shapes covered with pink wool and resembled ram horns and placed on a stand. Variegated phormium was xed to a couple of the horns and fatsia, griselinia and gold asparagus was added. Dark pink astilbe, vintage bi-colour roses and pink carnations completed this design. A beautiful cream container had been created comprising a twisted stem and cream cascading fronds of varying lengths with clear plastic spheres xed at the ends. Eucalyptus and some conifer was added. White roses, white carnations pale peach spray roses, cream hypericum berries and some gypsophila were added. Tiny sprays of gypsophila were placed in the clear spheres. A stunning design. e nal design had a Dickensian theme. A very tall container had been created in greys and mauves using melted organza and beads. A candelabra was xed to the top of the container. Fatsia, sarcocca, grevillea, Christmas tree foliage and aspidistra were added together with mauve limonium, beautiful large mauve chrysanthemums, mauve carnations and lilac roses. White candles were placed in the candelabra to complete this design. A wonderful afternoon with lots of ideas on making interesting containers. e next meeting will take place at 2pm on Tuesday 9th January when there will be a demonstration by Caroline Cooper. Sadly, Joan Hansford, Caroline’s Mother passed away recently and had been a valued member for many years. e title of the demonstration is ‘In a Previous Life’. Meetings are held at e Royal British Legion Club, Exbury Road, Black eld, SO45 1XD – visitors welcome, please call Jan Gordon on 023 8084 4835 for more details.
