On Saturday 9th December she was able to do a bucket collection at Dibden Tesco. Due to the generosity of their customers £101.52 was raised for the garden. She wishes to thank all the customers who donated to the garden and stopped and had a chat with her. On Sunday 10th December, Christine had organised the Carol Sing along in the garden, and ve vehicles were on display in the sta car park. ese included the Waterside Christmas Fire Engine, the Big R Cop car, the Herbie car, the Ambulance car and one other surprise vehicle. People were very interested in looking at them. CAROLS AND CARS AT HEALTHY HAVEN At 2pm everyone joined in singing the rst Carol around the re engine, and then they went in to the garden where Andrew Rance played eleven more carols on his keyboard. Everyone joined in singing the remaining carols. A erwards free tea/co ee and mince pies were served by the Patient Champions, Lek and Christine. Natalie and John, also from the Patient Champions had been busy selling ra e tickets. Christine would like to thank Tesco, Hythe Ferry, Stewarts Garden Centre, Otter Nurseries and Waitrose for donating some of the prizes. is was the last event that Christine organised for the Healthy Haven garden and she hopes the remaining garden volunteers can now take up the reins and continue to make the garden and events a success. Christine would like to thank the Patient Champions for helping her with this event, as without them she would not have been able to go ahead. Also she would like to thank the 80+ people who went along to support the event, bought ra e tickets and enjoyed the a ernoon. Haskins Garden Centre Brings Joy to Friends of PICU Haskins Garden Centre in West End, Southampton, donated 120 Christmas bears to Friends of PICU for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at University Hospital Southampton. e toys were given as an early Christmas gi to children receiving care on the unit in the lead-up to the festive period. Peter Callaway, General Manager of Haskins West End, said: “Our annual Christmas toy donations have become a tradition and one that our staff at Haskins West End are absolutely delighted to continue. It brings the team great pride to continue our relationship with Southampton General Hospital and Friends of PICU charity and it is just a small way we can give back to the community. We hope that these toys brought smiles and festive joy to the children admitted onto the ward at Christmas.” Friends of PICU has bene ted from Haskins’ support for 3 years, creating a strong relationship between the centre and its chosen charity. Kerry Houghton, Operations Manager, at Friends of PICU added: “We could not be more grateful for Haskins West End’s continued support. Thanks to their donation the south during the festive season, as part of a continuing mission to support the local communities in which each centre sits. Left to Right: Jenni Wilson (Haskins), Kerry Houghton (Friends of PICU) and Ellen Palas (Haskins) we were once again able to provide a special Christmas gift to children receiving care in PICU during December. Children in hospital throughout the Christmas period often miss out on fun school activities and time with family, so being able to provide these gifts is a lovely way to share some festive joy throughout PICU.” In total, Haskins donated over 500 cuddly toys to charities across
