Crowds watch the BHGC Captains Drive In Debbie Campbell Mike Wells In its 50th year Bramshott Hill Golf Club Welcomes New Golf Captains… e start of the New Year marked an exciting time as three new captains were welcomed to the Bramshott Hill Golf Club (BHGC) Women’s, Men’s and Senior Sections. Debbie Campbell, Steve Harnett and Dave Wilson all stepped-up to take their respective positions at the helm for a year. BHGC is based at Dibden Golf Centre run by MyTime Active. To mark the occasion, New Years’ Day saw the traditional ‘Captain’s Drive In’ event. For once the weather was kind and it stayed dry. In front of a large crowd, the 2023 Captains; Gloria Gordon (Women’s), Ian Binge (Men’s), Mike Wells (Seniors) putted out on the 18th hole and Debbie and Steve took their turn to drive o on the rst tee; both driving well and down the middle of the fairway! Dave Wilson couldn’t be in attendance but was present in spirit and able to join via social media. Mike Wells wasn’t intimidated by the 100 plus members watching-on and tee’d o on Dave’s behalf. e BHGC adult sections were delighted to be joined by members of the BHGC Junior section. Under the watchful eye of Linda Compton, the Junior Section continues to grow with youngsters of all ages being encouraged to learn, practice and more importantly enjoy golf. Good food followed the golf enabling all sections to mingle and ‘talk golf’ creating expectation and excitement for the golf year ahead. 2024 marks 50 years of BHGC, an exciting year and to celebrate the Women’s Section has introduced an inaugural ‘Half Open’ for ladies aged 70 and over on the nine hole short course. Debbie said: “I am delighted to announce the competition to take place in April for those ladies who continue to love to play golf and still want to compete. The nine hole short course is the perfect setting with a variety of challenging holes, without having to have the time, commitment and stamina required for the 18 hole course. What better way to mark 50 years of BHGC than to host our first Half Open competition.” For further information on BHGC please visit www. bramshotthillgolfclub.org Steve Harnett
