The Romsey based charity, supports young people on any issue they may be facing including counselling, employment, education, financial help, sexual health and mental health. The Mission Statement of the Charity is to “Support children and young people at times when they need it most”. The Charity relies solely on donations to carry out its work. For more information visit: www.yir.org.uk Recently Fawley Parish Council was proud to announce it had moved another step closer to a low carbon fleet as part of the planned replacement of vehicles. There now is only one fossil fuelled vehicle and that is a small petrol Peugeot. We feel that the vehicles in the new fleet need names, rather like Hampshire County Council gave their gritting lorries names such as ‘Spread Sheeran’, ‘Snowbi-Wan- Kenobi’, and ‘Gritty Gritty Bang Bang’. The competition is open to anyone and the winning names will be emblazoned on the vehicles. Send your ideas for names to helen.bradley@fawley-pc.gov.uk or post to Helen Bradley, Gang Warily Recreation Centre, Newlands Road, Fawley, SO45 1GA by the closing date: 16th March 2024 There are two electric vans, the green Gator, one petrol van, and the drone all needing names. The photos were taken using the new drone which will be used for open space inspections particularly when the ground is wet and flooded, and for roof and other high-altitude inspections. Wendy Herbert of Youth in Romsey receiving the cheque from Lion President Andrew Trowbridge Old and Foreign Coins Helping to Preserve Hythe Pier Hythe Pier Heritage Association (HPHA) would like to thank everyone that has dropped off donations of old and foreign coins to The Herald Office. The latest collection has raised a further £194.37 towards the preservation of Hythe Pier and Railway. If you have old coins or foreign currency that you would like to donate to HPHA, please drop it into the collection pot in The Herald office. Competition to Name Fawley Parish Council’s Electric Vehicles from Fawley Parish Council Cllrs Glass, Hartmann, O’Halloran and Armstrong alongside the new vehicles in the fleet liveried in modern monochromatic low-cost decals, and the petrol Peugeot Waterside Writers’ Group If you are interested in writing, the Waterside Writers’ group is for you.
